Professor Colby is an Associate Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in the Department of BioMolecular Sciences at the University of Mississippi. He also holds an appointment at Research Associate Professor in the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the School of Pharmacy. He received in Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from the University of Iowa and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California at Irvine. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, prior to becoming a faculty member. Currently, he directs a research laboratory in natural products chemistry and medicinal chemistry. He has published his work in many peer-reviewed scientific journals and has received national and international awards in the field of medicinal chemistry. Also, Dr. Colby has commercialized specialty chemicals for the pharmaceutical industry.
